Feeling Great About your Genesis Packs?
Not nearly great enough — here’s what’s coming next.
For those of you who were quick enough to mint Genesis packs before they sold out, congratulations! It’s time to sit back and enjoy the building suspense ahead of your pack opening on April 1st. If you missed out on this one, not to worry, your attention and engagement in our community will prove invaluable for opportunities ahead. In that spirit of anticipation, we thought you might appreciate it if we opened the kimono a bit on what lies ahead for these gems and how you might collect and employ them to the greatest effect.
If you’ve skimmed the GolfN Whitepaper, you already know that your NFTs are core components of a larger ecosystem which includes the GolfN Collectible Card Game (CCG) and the GolfN mobile App, which acts as the orchestration hub for your personalized Caddie, Marketplace, and Rewards Wallet, just to name a few. This post will give you a crash course on the mechanics of GolfN CCG, so you can learn how to calculate your potential rewards yield for a variety of club combinations and situations. After reading, you’ll have a solid grasp on how you can collect, employ, mix, and match your NFTs to stack points like Tiger stacks one putts.
The GolfN Collectible Card Game (CCG)
Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication: Equip your Bag, Reap the Rewards.
GolfN NFT clubs are designed to add rewarding new layers of digital gameplay to your golfing experience: layers which are inherently social and deeply strategic. You know that thrill you get when your fantasy team proves to your friends you’re Andy Reid’s equal in drafting skills? How about the satisfaction of crushing your competition in a game of Catan after reading them like a book? GolfN CCG brings those thrills, challenges, and opportunities to the golfing experience.
Base Reward Rate: Rarity and Bag Composition
A full bag consists of three slots to which you can assign a Driver, Iron, and Putter based on your read of the dynamics in play for that round. Two distinct factors will affect your base earning rate for points: the rarity of your clubs and the overall composition of your bag. Let’s take a closer look at each one.
Rarity
The three club types exist in various rarities ranging from common to legendary (the 1 of 1 card being the outlier), each of which earns points at a slightly different rate.
For example, a common putter is assigned a reward multiplier of 1x, while a legendary putter has a multiplier of 2.5x. This multiplier strongly influences your earning rate; however, it’s important to note that the game is built to more strongly benefit users who complete sets at higher rarities, so if you have a legendary putter (2.5x), a legendary iron (2.5x), and a common driver (1x), your rewards base rate will be determined by the common driver (1x). You will still get a multiplier effect from your higher rarity cards, but the base rate set by the lowest card in your bag. This will become clearer as we discuss bag composition and the calculation formula next.
Bag Composition: Determining your Base Rewards Rate with Full and Partial Bag Loadouts
Full Bag Equipped
Players who equip a full bag — filling all three slots with a Driver, an Iron, and a Putter — will receive increased points per round, rewarding the strategic acquisition and maintenance of a high-rarity equipment set. This system is designed to motivate players to assemble complete sets and thereby maximize their earning potential.
Partial Bag Equipped
Partial bags are a mix of a Driver, an Iron, and a Putter, but not all three. Partial bags yield lower base points compared to full bags. This encourages players to strive towards completing their bag for optimal rewards but still allows flexibility and variety in gameplay strategies. The table below shows the base reward rate for both full and partial bags at different rarity levels, but keep in mind that this is not the overall total which will include more factors and multipliers.
Attributes
Each card is imbued with one of the following attributes which make it uniquely suited for specific styles of play on the course:
- Swift Swing — optimizes rewards for playing at a brisk pace
- Camaraderie — optimizes rewards for social play with friends
- Scorecard Sage — optimizes rewards for diligent score tracking on each hole
- Precision Pro — optimizes rewards for players who diligently track their shot performance throughout the round.
- Off-Peak Prodigy — optimizes rewards for play during off-peak hours such as twilight or morning weekday rounds.
Attribute Levels: How They Interact with Rarities
Now that you have an understanding of both rarities and attributes of your cards, it’s worth taking a brief look at how rarities can affect the level of attributes on your cards. Each attribute has three levels which are designated by one, two, or three stars on the attribute badge of your card. These levels increase the reward rate for the attribute as you move up in level.
As you can see, the rewards payout drastically increases as you move up in card rarity. Next, let’s discuss overall engagement bonuses.
Engagement Bonuses
In addition to the bonuses you can receive from having a specific attribute on your card and matching that attribute with the appropriate activity (i.e. your Legendary Putter has the Precision Pro Attribute and you diligently track each shot while playing), you can receive overall Engagement bonuses for performing attribute activities even if you don’t have the attribute equipped. So let’s say you don’t have any clubs at all and you just want to play a round with GolfN. You can earn points by playing with friends (Camaraderie), playing at off-peak hours (Off Peak Prodigy), and tracking your score after each hole (Scorecard Sage), among others. The table below shows the multipliers you can earn as Engagement Bonuses. If this sounds like a lot to digest, don’t give up yet, we are going to weave all these elements together next.
Now that we have set the table with the necessary items: rarities, bag composition, and attributes, let’s dive into reward calculation mechanics.
Rewards Calculation: Your Favorite New Post-Round Routine
Picture this: Your phenomenal day on the course in the sun just wrapped up and you’re headed back to the clubhouse to cool your heels over a bite or a round with the crew. At that point the key question on everyone’s mind is going to be: how is my reward wallet shaping up? In this section we will give you all the tools you need to calculate what you’ll have coming in on the 19th hole.
The Fundamental Elements
- Base Payout — The calculation begins with the base payout of the lowest rarity club in the bag, forming the foundational value for subsequent additions.
- Club Rarity Factor — Each club’s rarity multiplier is applied to the base payout and summed up. The formula incorporates the rarity of each club in the bag, reflecting their contribution to the total payout.
- Attribute Bonus — All attribute bonuses are summed and averaged. This average is then multiplied by the Base Payout and added to the total.
- Engagement Bonuses — Engagement bonus percentages are summed up and multiplied by the Base Payout, further enhancing the total reward calculation.
The Formula
Total Rewards = (Base Payout + ∑(Club Rarity × Base Payout) + (Average Attributes × Base Payout) + (Engagement Bonus × Base Payout))
Example Illustration:
- Base Payout: 167 (lowest rarity club)
- Club Rarities: Clubs with rarity multipliers of 1.5, 1.2, and 1.3.
- Attributes: Average attribute bonus of 20%.
- Engagement Bonuses: Total engagement bonus of 15%.
Calculation
Total Rewards = (167 + (1.5 × 167) + (1.2 × 167) + (1.3 × 167) + (0.20 × 167) + (0.15 × 167)) = 893.45 points
This formula ensures that rewards are reflective of a player’s strategic gameplay decisions, ranging from their choice of clubs and attributes to their level of engagement. Although this formula is the core of the GolfN reward mechanism, keep in mind that the overall health of the ecosystem will be the paramount consideration. As it grows larger, governance and emissions reviews will play critical roles in ensuring a balanced, sustainable, and healthy rewards mechanism as GolfN hits new milestones and brings in more collectors and players.
GolfN NFTs: the Master Keys to the Ecosystem
If you made it this far, you probably have the big picture in view now: your GolfN NFTs are the keys to unlocking the reward potential of the entire ecosystem and that potential is growing substantially over time — treat them accordingly. We know this is complex; if it wasn’t, it wouldn’t be interesting. That’s why we’ll make it easy in game to equip different cards and see how those cards could affect earnings before starting your round. Then, at the end of your round, we’ll show you exactly what you earned and how.
